Recently Hal Reiger showed up here. I had not seen him since Haystack. His visit was fine but not easy. He was as deaf as a post and one of his hearing contraptions had gone out. He seemed to enjoy it. He did show some footage of you in your home. I gather that he and a friend from that section of the country had made a call on you during his extended circular trip this spring.

In the recent AMERICAN CRAFTS, I read a review of your tape or viedio [[video]]...I ordered one and it just came along. We are looking forward to seeing it. I'm sure that it will get a lot of millage in middle Tennessee. I don't have a VCR contraption so this will have to be done in other locations. I'm still not ready for the 21st century by any means.

My mother has been good this summer the the heat is really bad. She has been able to garden and do jellies and jams and still cooks. She has been requiring a bit more attention but all in all pretty good and my sisters and I are fortunate that things have been so easy so far.

It seems to me that this attempt at a letter has taken a very homesy-flksy turn and is not very interesting so maybe I should stop and try to bring some order into this overgrown and sort of jumbled enviroment [[environment]] that I call home...I've let a lot of things go free this summer...weeds, grass, floors and 'things' in general...Since it is highly unlikely that HOUSE BEAUTIFUL or even SOUTHER [[SOUTHERN]] LIVING will be interested it does not matter too much.

Be well, be happy and continue to do good work.

Your devoted friend,
Olen
