Dear Mr. Tanner:

Thank you for your letter of July 14 with enclosed check $29.00, and I presume by this time you have received our bill for balance.

I have told the Express Company that the amount you insured the pictures for was their correct valuation, and I think you had better tell them the same thing if they ask you. Of course, you know, as well as I do, that the value of a picture is a rather uncertain amount.

We have already paid bill for repairing the canvases, and also another bill to the American Express Company for their services, etc., and we will hope to receive settlement from them. It is very difficult to tell the cause of the damage, but the inspector felt that it was due to faulty packing.

I hope we will be able to report some sales to you in the near future. We like the canvases very much and will show them to good advantage.

With best wishes,
Yours truly,
Erwin S. Barrie
