Never did I know what that passage ment in the Bible where it says one man or some one "cursed" another but when I saw the haggard faces of some Belgian soldiers just returned I felt that the the German Emp ought to be "cursed".

Tuesday 25 night - Noble. came while we were at supper with word that all who wished to leave had better leave at once I went & told Leonard, & McKay The next morning the [[Lencomps?]] & Leonardo & Nobles left.  We heard grumbling of cannon firing all day

Wed. 26 - all day packing A sad time.
We left with the idea of staying a day or so at Boulogne as lack of news at Etaples was trying.

Thursday Aug 27th Left our home about 8 [[strikethrough]] P.M [[/strikethrough]] A.M. train about 2 1/2 hours late German prisoners at Etaples station. Arrived at Boulogne about 3 o'clock. Great excitement wounded & town full of officers & Belgians from the front.

Friday 28th aug left Boulogne on 11 30 AM boat. Small no. of passenger as train did not arrive from Paris
on boat was wounded aviator - being brought back t Eng. arrived at Rye 4 O'Clock - Long search for rooms, finally located We were all very very tired
