From: H O Tanner
Subj: Telegram, Sale of sheep.

Just before leaving Paris a telegram arrived from the A.R.C Rept. at this point saying among other things that the farm was "being neglected"

I am glad to say that he was in error - First - there is a very capable Garden Officer at this point- then there is a Sargent who has been trained & who had complete orders on what was to be done in my abscence = - then not the least was the fact that there has been nearly a week of rain - much needed rain, which was the thing the garden needed most.

Since the first of Sept. as you will see by enclosed report no convalescent labor has been available - there has been a complete evacuation of every one able to move.

Eighty nine (89) sheep have been sold of a total net weight of 3330 kilos. at 2.50 le kilo making a sum of eight thousand three hundred & 25 fcs. (8325. frs) - which has been turned over to Capt. G. H. Brown

This makes a total 22,158.85 frs. which with the value of the "clip" already sold for 1459.50 makes a grand total of 23,618.35 frs - with still 40 to 50 frs to come for 4 "runts" of the flock, which will be sold tomorrow.

Assistant Chief Farm & Garden Section
