To a Musian

With bright, mysterious mien, beneath the sun,
You walk alone: our love has not begun
To fathom that invincible repose
Wherein, serene, you dwell apart from those
Who, loving you, would some small part possess
In that remote heart which you hide. We guess
Too late, how hopelessly withdrawn it lies
From us, whom you regard with alien eyes.
