Dear Brenda,

First of all I would like to tell you how much I liked your piece in Arts Magazine on Nancy Graves. Not being familiar with her work except for Shaman especially her work of the late sixties, I was fascinated . I just with there had been a photo of one of the camel-bone or skeleton sculptures. There is rather an uncanny coincidence between the anthro-pologically distilled passage through bones that we both made and practically for the same, or at least some of the same reasons. When I get back to Paris, I will send you some photos of my "bone" things. I think they would amuse you. I used to get them from a Parisian taxidermist and naturalist.

Getting back to our project, I have seen and spoken to Ray Saunders here in New York. We are ready to go ahead with it in October. He has picked out the piece he wants and I will have a cost estimate made on it by my foundry as soon as I get back. MOMA has bought two drawings and is choosing between three sculptures, but I'm sure they will lend them back. Also all the small sculptures were sold with the condi-tion that they be lent back.

As agreed, I will send Ray's piece directly from Verona and as quickly as possible so that you can have it in the museum. Alvin Eisenmann who is head of the design department at Yale has agreed to do the catalogue in the museum's style. He has some kind of deal which enables him to do these catalogs cheaply, so I am hoping we will be able to dig up enough money to cover it. What he would like to know is how many you would want . Insaw on Pol's (Bury) catalog that 5000 were printed. It this the normal printing or can it be less? Mr. Eisenmann knows Mr. Seltz very well and has worked with him before, so I don't expect problems. Besides being a very fine designer, he is a nice man.
