Forsyth Ga., Sept. 30, 1867.  Respectfully returned to Bt. Brig Gen. Sibley with the information that the affidavit of Ann Lewis (colored), claiming wages of Mrs. Padne of Pike County, is false.  The case was investigated by Jesse Aycock Esq.  The attention of the Ass't Com'r is invited to the within evidence.

Respectfully returned to Lt. D.G. Risley S.A. Com'r, Brunswick Ga.  The Act'g Ass't Com'r is not informed of any act or provision for the settlement of claims like this, except through the Court of Claims at Washington D.C., where application should be made thro' some lawyer.  Claims of this nature cannot be attended to by the Bureau.

Respectfully returned to Mr. D. Losey Agent, thro' Capt. N.S. Hill S.A. Com'r, Macon Ga., with instructions that, if the indenture was made by the Bureau authorities, he will have them cancelled, if by the Ordinary, he will have the matter brought to his notice by proper evidence and the indentures cancelled.  The case of assault and batter will remain in the hands of the Civil Authorities; but Agent Losey will watch the matter closely; and, if justice is not done, he will report the matter to this office with the evidence.
