States that a Mr. Malpatt had contracted with freedmen for present year to work for one half of crop. He now refuses to abide by contract. has shot one and wounded him severely and drives most of them from the place Thinks the civil law to slow to secure justice to the freedmen. |

Dec. 11th 1866 - In affidavit before J R Davis Agt &c. states that he worked for Hal Horton in Washington Co. first to have 1/4 crop afterwards for 1/3 crop, now refuses to work unless he pays all expenses of failing heart, took out of 1/3.
