Griffin, Ga. Nov. 17 1866 Brevet Lieut. Col. E.M.L. Ehlers A.S.A. Commissioner Bureau R.F. & A.L. Colonel -- I have the honor to report the following facts connected with the communication inclosed. Mrs. N.C. Buchannan made an appeal to me some months ago for aid to assist her to go north, I was unable pecuniarily, and happening to think of the matter when having a interview with General Tillson, I laid the case before him, and he promptly ordered transportation for the lady and two children to Nashville, Tenn., with a request that the officer in charge at Nashville, give her transportation to Cincinnati, Ohio. On my return from Augusta, I wrote the lady to inform her what I had done, and received the accompanying letter. I could not accede to her proposition of "stealing her away" in the night, her advancing
