time of this action, I beg leave respectfully to state, that I found it would be highly detrimental to my professional interests to remove, upon [?]a notice, from Augusta and therefore feel compelled to deny myself the honor & pleasure of a nearer residence to yourself.

I think it probable, however, that in the course of one or two months, I may make such arrangements as to enable me to come to Macon, if at that time you should so desire.
