Hopefully, life will become less hectic in a few weeks when I close Noyac. Of course, there's always ambivalence about closing. Country life is well suited to me and the post summer was delightful. Jean's studio wasn't finished until the middle of it so July was full of saws and hammers and smiling lessons. I'm becoming fairly adept at handling my Sunfish. I'm a short walk (½ block) to the Peconic Bay and many days will find me smiling to deserted beaches with a picnic. My particular view is still a pocket of unspoiled beaches. Unfortunately, more land developers are threatening and I'm one of those crusaders who find themselves writing letters to government officials, newspapers, organizing petitions and attending court hearings. It's endless but someone has to care. The remaining part of the summer was devoted to my work - for some reason I found myself writing more than drawing. It's like having two lov(ers) - each one
