a candy store on 7th Avenue and 22 Street before we was painters. (about 1944-1945) I know Hyde Solomon, who is now in Taos N.M. and I met Leland Bell, who is certainly a "Lester Freak"

I spent the war year at the Hotel Pennsylvania (we would sneak in) and listen to Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Gene Krupa, Tommy Dorsey etc. and travel both side of the street on 52th Street.

Birdland became my favorite place in the early Fifties, where I saw Lester, Dizzy, Charlie Parker, Bud Powel [[Powell]]. I went to outdoor dances In Chelsea Park and Central Park where Benny Goodman and even Stan Kenton played for free (Sponsored by CON ED) during the Forties.

Looking through the catalog of "Jazz and painting I recognize many people especially a very good friend of mine Frank Stone, a real Jazz fave who now lives in Marlboro Vermont

I grew up in Chelsea, was fortunate to live in a era of great music (JAZZ SWING - BEBOP) Americas most authentic Art and also live through the great A [[?]] [[?]] Movement.

Thank you again, hope to meet you someday

Tom Boutis

P.S. Titles of the Paintings in my last show (JAN 8-28 LANDMARK) were named after all of Prez [[strikethrough]] will [[strikethrough]] classic hits, A Homage to Lester Young.

Transcription Notes:
Think it must be Leland Bell, artist and jazz musician.
