Dear Nell;

I was waiting to write you until the ceremony of watch giving was complete. Leonards was in town until this week-end. I got a watch for Steven, Wills and Marie, and we got them all to-gether. They were delighted, and I'm glad I did it that way, because Wills has been hinting for a long time; Steven, I felt shouldn't be left out, and I though I had already givin Marie something else, another watch suitable for her, sort of fell into out hands. A friend of ours was down last year and had rather naively, in a short time, made a "pen pal" of a boy she met on the beach. He has been writing constantly and becoming more and more familiar, now calling her Liz. She got him a watch for us to bring down, and I guess must have gotten a letter that really changed her mind about giving it to him. So she wrote to us suggesting we give it to Steven, but I already had a pocket one, for him to be like Leonards. Leonards [[strikethrough]] He [[/strikethrough]] looks fine and we met his boss in the airport the other day who says he is doing well. I haven't been in touch with the social worker but will try to talk to him, or find out before I leave.

We are enjoying the house, and everything is working smoothly. The only annoyance is that George tried to get the pool finished before I came, but of course it was slow, and the masons come chattering in at seven every morning. Fortunately, mason work is fairly quiet, and I retire to the sea side of the porch and they don't bother me. Marie is as wonderful as ever, and Wills is spervising the pool, and showing a lot of intelligence. Steven still gets into trouble at
