SHELIA HICKS, American, born 1934

Studied at Yale University, New Haven, Conn. 1957 Fullbright grant for research on Pre-Incaic cultures. 1961 Fribourg Scholarship to study painting and weaving in France. Taught at University of Mexico; worked with Luis Barragan, Mexico. Establishes L'Atelier des Grande Augustins, Paris, 1968. Exhibited at Museum of Modern Art, New York, 1962, 1967, 1969; Oldenburg Museum, Germany, 1964-5; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, 1969; in Mexico, South America, Europe and Morocco including La Triennale de Milano, 1964; Biennale Internationale de la Tapisserie, Lausanne, 1967, 1969, 1971.  Exposition "Douze ans d'art contemporain en France", Grand Palais, 1972.
