I am making the small book of my miniatures. John Melin is designing the book.
Do you want to do the preface? You may remember that we discussed this a few years ago but never got-it-together. It is becoming more and more important for me to establish the origins of my activity in this and the personal nature it had , and has, for me as research (not merely expression).

My first show of miniatures was in 1957 at Yale University (suggested by Albers) in the school gallery.
The second show was in 1957 in the Museo de Historia Natural, Santiage de Chile.
The third show was in Galeria Souza in Mexico, 1961 (hung by Souza, Barragan and myself with commentary by Matias) and reviews by Chacha.

The fourth (and 1st in u.S.A.) was in the Chicago Art Institute (one-man show) in 1963.

Afterwards((strikethrough)), or rather before, MMA showed one in Dec. 1960, "New Acquisitions". Then, MUseum of Cont. Art in 63 (against my wishes, really --contre coeur). Zurich in '64 (with Zeisler and Tawney showing large work)
Oldenburg Landesmuseum (list one-man show in Europe) '65 - all miniatures (Germany) organized by DR. KAISER*

The maquette of the baby book is almost ready.
I will need the text soon. It will be in English and French and Japanese.
The first printing will be 1000. And it will be done by a Suede at cost (friend of John).
The only way to keep complete design control over this is to do it like a home recipe book without commercial intervention. Youv'e seen this from close-hand working on your own book. If an editor gets interested later we will negotiate the package and ask for honorariums, fees etc.

Text should be brief, factual, definative, biographical and , at times whimsical (like you and me).
less than 1000 word essay
