Sunday, the 29th

Sheila dear,

What fun to talk with you for a few minutes. Here is the story. Elden Hanes is top brass at American Tel & Tel in charge of the new building at Basking Ridge New Jersey. Kling is the architect; International Space Design is in charge of the interior design; and Robbin Glauber (from Chicago - Illinois Bell- who is curator of their collection) Ron Callvert a VP; Paul Lund, an executive VP, myself and one or two low men on the totem pole had a meeting on Friday morning. Robbie was late in arriving from Chicago and so I carried the meeting. We had brought to the executive conference room four works of art and some slides including of course the etude which ATT had brought. I also brought the Rabat catalogue; and a proof sheet from our book of the IBM wall. Hanes was more than impressed; said he would be in Paris; and I suggested he meet you and then perhaps see La Defence and Rothschild under your wing. He offered to bring with him the drawings of Basking Ridge and we talked about the kinds of telephone wires, cables, western electric colors which could be sent to you for "play".

He is most enthusiastic AND HE IS BIG BOSS MAN. So ma chere I deliver him to you as a willing victim. Like all top executives he doesnt know much about art; he knows "what he likes" and more importantly likes to feel he is participating with more than saying okay. He knows that you must be commissioned to work on this project and he is willing. So on May 22nd he will call to arrange the day with you.

This is heaven sent; what more can I say; the thread becomes stronger and stronger.
