Dear Sheila:

I am rushing a book off to Mathey complete with my signature and an appropriate dicho. So when he receives it you can claim your copy. Do you mean to say you only have one? By slowboat I am sending you another. His is going airmail.

By this time you will have seen John King. I am most curious to know what he offers you.

Something very fishy is going between Vincent Kling and Stan Smith which affects your commission. We have alerted everybody to this and are awaiting a reply. It is therefore important to know what King offers you in the event that Stan Smith wants to use the first payment made to you for King's proposal rather than Kling.

Beginning the week of the 24th, I will be in Washington the entire week. I can be reached there at (301) 654-9032 if there is something urgent. Otherwise, write to me so that I wil find it when I get back to New York at the end of the week. I think, if you will forgive the expression, that the real nigger in the woodpile is our friend Vincent Kling who is more than a normal son of a bitch.

I am not sure whether we are to include harsh words such as the one at the bottom of the page so I just left a blank spot Per Smithsonian style, type all words as is even if harsh
