1218 CONNECTICUT AVENUE
WASHINGTON

Dear Mr. Dove
I was distressed to learn from your letter just received that the first check had not yet been sent to you from my business office. They misunderstood me today that the payments were not to begin until July 1st whereas what I meant to convey was that the June check should go at once and the subsequent checks should be sent the first of each month instead of at the end of the month. You will receive the check for June immediately and the check for July will follow ten days later. I hope that you will let me know if you fail to get the checks on time and to the right address as I can never be sure what is being done at the Phillips Properties Inc - especially in summer when I am in the mountains of Pennsylvania. My own office as at the gallery 1600 - 21st street but my business affairs are looked at by Dwight Clark Treasurer and Miss Minnie H Byers at 1218 Connecticut Avenue and as I thought it would be better book keeping to do it that way I have instructed these two excellent people to see that you get your checks regularly and on time. We are hard pressed and deep in debt ourselves and the gallery from its little endowment has had to help us out on interest etc while the dividends which we depend upon do not come. It is bad
