([[Roolz?]] - Mod. Am.) 1/168 2

At the age of 9, I painted, studying with Newton Weatherly of Geneva.
[[strikethrough]] I was unable [[/strikethrough]] to devote all my time to it until 1907-1908 in France where I was free for 18 months, working in the Country.
Then back to America and discovered that at that time it was not possible to live by Modern Art alone. Made a living farming and illustrating to support the paintings.
To understand painting one must live inside- it.
The speed of today leaves very few times to really live with any thing even our selves. That too painting has to meet.
Then there was a search for a means of expression that which did not depend upon representation. [[strikethrough]] of objects. [[/strikethrough]]
It should have order, size, intensity spirit - nearer to the music of the eye.
[[strikethrough]]The first steps are easier to explain, as the smaller multiplication tables are easier. [[/strikethrough]]
If one could [[strikethrough]] only [[/strikethrough]] paint the part that makes the spirit of the painting and leave out all that just makes tons and tons of Art.
