Dear Jack

I wish I could write your cryptic, inspiring one or two-liners which have such marvelous effect on me. I will try not to be verbose. My new fellow ship which you and the Society have conferred upon me feels at first like a gift from the Wizard of Oz to the Cowardly Lion or the Scarecrow, or Tin Woodsman. I can now make it real by proving myself a worthwhile addition to the august host.

The careful and understated manner of the membership transaction makes me feel more like an Anglophile than before. I would be honored if we could one day attend a meeting in London together.

We devoured the House and Garden article. The four lions are stretched and ready for loan to Kay's wall. The pop-up Christmas cards still draw comment on our office display wall. Now, that's what I call physical evidence of a pervading presence in provincial places, and among grateful friends. We all look forward to your next (not to say second) coming. You have been so good to and for us all.

Helene and I send our love
