PHILIP CUTLER 62 EAST 83rd STREET NEW YORK NEW YORK 10028 (212) 628 3312

My Dear Jack-

You are, without any doubt, the most elegant "Doorman" I know.
I must have told you the story that took place in a taxi from one of your delightful dinner parties when I was dropping Edgar K. and Paul M. off on my way home. We were discussing your most outstanding assets. Edgar, without hesitation, said he felt that it was your unfailing and strong support of people you believed in. It is so true. You are always "opening doors" as you did when I first went to Asia, etc., etc. - always opening doors of opportunity for others - hence, the elegant "Doorman"!

Annaka Pearlman phoned me immediately, seemingly, after your call to her. We are in touch. Though it would be nice if something developed, the most important thing, to me, is another gesture of generous friendship and support.

Thanks can never be adequate but at least let it be known that it is well appreciated and you are well beloved, dear friend.

Philip
