New Kips Bay Boys Club Arranges for Opening Wednesday

Tea Will Be Served by the Women Members of Committee.

An event of interest to many New Yorkers is to be the formal opening of the New Kips Bay Boys Club building at 301 East Fifty-second street on Wednesday at 4 P. M. William H. Wheelock, vice-president of the Children's Aid Society, will present the building for the use of the Kips Bay Boys Club, Inc., on behalf of the Children's Aid Society. Chester H. Aldrich, president of the Kips Bay Boys Club will accept it in the name of the club directors. A boy member of the club, Robert Thiriet, will say a few words in behalf of the boys of the neighborhood for whom the opening is to be a gala occasion.

Tea will be served by the women members of the committee of men and women interested in the club of which Miss Cornelia Van A. Chapin is chairman. Other members include Mrs. Nigel Cholmeley-Jones, Mrs. Clarence G. Michalis, Miss Sara C. Clapp, Earl Dodge Osborn, Edward P. Hamilton and Allen Evarts Foster. 
 
The building will be open for inspection from 4 to 7 in the afternoon, and in the evening from 8 to 10 o'clock. Boy members of the club will act as guides. The Kips Bay Boys Club which is a cooperative enterprise carried on jointly by the Children's Aid Society and the Kips Bay Boy Club, Inc., was first opened fourteen years ago. The new building is a gift of the Children's Aid Society, but the club enjoys complete autonomy in maintenance and operation. Chester H. Aldrich is president, Edward P. Hamilton, vice-president; Charles C. Burlingham, treasurer, and Allen Evarts Foster, secretary of the club. The officers of the Children's Aid Society are William Church Osborn, president; William H. Wheelock, vice-president, and Edwin G. Merrill, treasurer.

At the left is Miss Cornelia Van A. Chapin, chairman of the directing committee of the opening of the new Kips Bay Boys Clb. At the right is Mrs. C. Van Rensselaer Halsey, chairman of the children's art committee of the Child Study Association of America. This committee will hold an exhibition of "Art in a Child's Surroundings" at 221 West Fifty-seventh street from today to April 1.
