Miss Chapin's animal sculptures, carved directly in stone without preliminary sketches and models, are primarily decorative, though there is a certain whimsical quality about the playful baby bear, the sleeping "Young Rhino" and "Pelican in Repose." Any of her pieces would be delightful additions to a garden scene.
