General
The bearer Mr Nelson Butters in behalf of the Colored people of Columbus Ga has been duly authorized by the undersigned to say before you certain grievances which should in our opinions have been corrected by the officers in the Freedmen's Bureau of this city; but have not been. We feel that we neither enjoy liberty nor do we get justice meted out to us. We most sincerely hope General that you will hear patiently our representative & inquire into our wrongs
