Augusta Ga.  Dec. 20th 1865

Dear Sir.
We appeal to you for advice in this time of our greatest Troubles. We are molested on every hand. We ask your advice because we deserve to be a Law Abiding People and will be so if let a lone if it hurts no one more than it does us to trouble your mind with things of this kind, but things has got to such a Pitch. Something must be done. 

We work all day Then before one of us can get home we are are Robed of our little supply  Roughlessly. Entered while we are on behind of our [[?]] and the whole or such things as can be carried off with our money Boxes or Drawers are Swept  off right before our face, and we dare not utter a word by white’s Dressed in Soldiers Clothing. My yard was entered on Monday the 18th and on Tuesday the 19th 1865.
