Genl

I would respectfully state that Mr. Screven Prest Gulf Rail Road. proposes to furnish as much lumber and materials as the building at Thomasville built by Confederate Govt may contain, for measure, and desires me to lay the matter before you, as he has learned, the building is to be taken down. It would undoubtedly be as well for the Govt to have as much lumber and other materials of equal quantity, furnished by the Rail Road Company as that building will make.

Please advise me what to say to Mr Screven or communicate with him in the premises at your earliest convenience.
