[[?]] Chage of Bureau R.F & A.L.
Augusta Ga.}

Dear Sir
Major Nastrings on his arrival here handed me a letter from my friend Col. Cursler introducing yourself and requesting me to aid you in the important work committed to your charge. It will afford me gratification if I can aid you by letters or advice in promoting the harmony & the best interest of the two races in Georgia.
I desire to see you on another subject - the disposition of the buildings which were erected on my land for the Government during the war, concerning which Major Nastrings tells me he has reported to you - and I shall probably leave here on the 16th and be in Augusta on the 17th or 18 for that purpose. When I see you I will explain to you frankly my position and views and I feel confident that your determination will be right. The property has been badly used, is idle & deteriorating in value, and something should be done as early as practicable to make it useful.

Very respectfully
your obt. svt.
