attention - If the cholera increases we will be flooded with the starving negroes from about Savannah and they will eat us up worse than the locusts of Egypt = no authority we have here will prevent - If you could procure an Officer & Guard to be organized & left here that we could direct them we might prevent it. I have not seen Captain Crabtree & dont know if he could or would come unless he was ordered from Head quarters - see to that he is 60 miles off & only a weekly mail I will go up next Tuesday & in the mean time I will find out whether they will deliver the cotton (which I even doubt) I would prefer having an officer to come first & investigate the situation and then see if a Guard would be necessary it might be best I dont wish anything done to irretate unless it is necessary as it will make a war = do write me on Thursday PM & give the letter to the person of the Cool without fail
