Dr. W.R. Valentiner,
Detroit Institute of Arts,
Detroit, Mich.

My dear Dr. Valentiner :-

What a pity that I just miss your visit! I arrived on Saturday from Paris, and heard that you had just been passing through New York two days before.

My stay in this Country will be but a short one, and I hope that very soon I will have the opportunity of seeing you. I suppose that if you do not come to New York, I will have to go to see you in Detroit. The more so, as I would very much like to have a little chat with you, as regards an Exhibition that I would like to hold in your City.

Do you know by any chance of a convenient place where to hold such an Exhibition ?

The bas-relief about which I wrote you, and of which I sent you a photograph will be here shortly, and I am sure that you will like it very much.

Will you kindly remember me to Mrs. Valentiner and trusting that you are both enjoying good health and looking forward to the pleasure of hearing from you soon,

Pray Believe me,

Yours sincerely,
