Dr. W. R. Valentiner,
Detroit Institute of Art,
Detroit, Mich.

Dear Dr. Valentiner,

[] #2096 []

Many thanks for your kind lines of November 28th to which I hasten to reply and to tell you that as long as you care so much for the charming Spanish Madonna, I will be delighted to present it to the Detroit Institute of Art. If it gives you pleasure to receive her, it gives me still a greater one to give it to your institution.

Whatever we can do to be agreeable to you, we would certainly spare no efforts to do, and especially when one sees the amount of work, the intensity of it, and the energy you deploy in the city of Detroit in order to awaken interest for art.

Your arrival in this city is synonymous of a new era for everything pertaining to art.

Let me also take this opportunity to thank you for all you have been kind enough to do for us, and especially to arrange this exhibition at "The Mermaid." My cousin, René is taking it up directly with Mrs. Pittman, and according to your suggestion, it will take place in February.

I hope I will have the opportunity of seeing you in New York again before my sailing which will be probably in about ten days' time.

I have given instructions to have the little Spanish Virgin shipped to you, and looking forward to hearing from you that it arrived safely,

Believe me to be,

Yours very sincerely,
