Mr. Germain Seligman,
705 Fifth Avenue,
New York City.

Dear Mr. Seligman:

I talked the other day with your cousin René about your kind intention to make a gift to the Museum perhaps sometime in the near future.

I surely do not want to be insistent in this matter, but if you really think about us in such a nice way I only want to make the suggestion that it would please me especially if you could let us have something of Spanish art,-- for instance, this charming Madonna statue about which we talked some time ago. We have so few works of Spanish art that it would be most welcome.

I have spoken to the people of the Mermaid about your exhibition, and I am sure that if you can arrange it for February it will be a very good time, and they will all do what they can for you. They are most charming people, and as it is the first time that they will have such a fine exhibition it is most likely that they will be able to attract the best type of collectors in this city.

With kind regards,

Very sincerely yours,

W.R. Valentiner

I just received your & Mr. René's letter. Many thanks. I am afraid, your restorer is mistaken regarding the VD Melsh as well in what he says about the ((?)) matter (I would like to see a picture with those collars in 1675!!) as about the signature
