My dear Mr. Seligmann:

Thank you very much for your letter.

I'm looking forward to seeing you, but I wonder if it would not be better for you to come after the holidays, as people just now are so busy with Christmas shopping in New York that there would be little time given to the consideration of the great paintings. I refer to the friends of mine of whom you speak in your letter.

I should, of course, be pleased to see the Mantegna and Giotto again, as they are marvelous paintings, but the chances are very slight that anything could be done just now.
