ARTS COMMISSION EDSEL B. FORD, PRESIDENT ALBERT KAHN ROBERT H. TANNAHILL EDGAR B. WHITCOMB COMMISSIONERS THE DETROIT INSTITUE OF ARTS OF THE CITY OF DETROIT W. R. VALENTINER ART DIRECTOR CLYDE H. BURROUGHS SECRETARY March 11, 1935. RS Mr. René Seligmann, Jacques Seligmann and Company, 3 East 51st Street, New York City. My dear Mr. Seligmann: Thank you for your letter. The exhibition of Hubert Robert and Fragonard which we are planning to hold in April, has been offered to us by Wildenstein, as we are not in a position--owing to lack of funds--to have another large exhibition this season. I should be very glad if we might include in the exhibition the two charming Fragonards which you showed to me. If this is agreeable to you, would you mind communicating with Wildenstein? With kindest regards, Sincerely yours, W. R. Valentiner WRV:JH Der B. dei Conti sieht nach der Retusche sehr schön aus. Wir haben aber leider kein Geld mehr für diese Saison!
