December 21st, 1934.

Dear Dr. Valentiner:

A wire which we sent you last night must have crossed your letter of December 19th.

I am enclosing herewith a bill for the Antonello de Messina, with our thanks for the kind things you expressed in your letter. We, on our part, have always been so pleasantly received in Detroit that we will always do anything in our power to enable not only the Museum, but the collectors, to acquire fine things from us.

In our wire we took the liberty of asking you when you were coming back to New York. We have recently received a very interesting group of paintings which we would like very much to show you. Therefore, we hope that sometime in the near future we will have an opportunity to see you here and that you will finally take your trip to New York, to which we alluded when I saw you in Detroit.

With kindest regards, believe us,
Yours sincerely,

(René Seligmann)
