February 20th, 1933.

Dear Dr. Valentiner:

My cousin, René, has handed me your very nice lines of February 10th., and I was interested to read what you say about your coming Italian exhibition.

With pleasure we shall lend you the Catena, but don't you think that the Giovanni Bellini is so small that it would be difficult for you to show it in such a way as to do justice to its artistic merits? I am asking you for your opinion - don't misunderstand me, as it isn't that I don't want you to have it - but you might yourself be embarrassed as to how to place it. Let me hear from you on this subject, or, if I don't I shall take for granted that you agree with me and we shall only ship the Catena when we hear from Duveen Brothers, who are going to collect the paintings, as per your letter.

Would you like to have a photograph of the Catena for your catalogue?

We are insuring the pictures as per our understanding, and you are taking care of the rest.

With best wishes, in which my cousin René joins,

Believe me to be,

Yours very sincerely,

(Germain Séligmann)
