SAVONNERIE SCREEN IN FIVE SECTIONS

A magnificient screen in five sections, of the Manufacture Royale of Savonnerie. French work of the Régence period, end of the 17th. Century.

It shows various animals; tigers, monkeys, rabbits, a deer, dogs and foxes, as well as many birds; parrots, ducks, a pheasant, a peacock, etc.

Each section is encircled with grape-vines, fruit, foliage and flowers.

The colors of this screen are remarkably bright, and it is in an excellent state of preservation.

One section is mentioned on page 75, and reproduced on plate No. 10 of the book by Braquenié and Magnac, entitled, - "La Manufacture Royale de la Savonnerie du Quai de Chaillot".
