Dear Dr. Valentiner:

I have recently had an inquiry about an extremely fine Rembrandt.

I, therefore, thought of asking you if you know of such a picture which might be on the market, as you are undoubtedly the best placed person to tell me where every Rembrandt in America is to be found in private collections. Besides, this might be an opportunity for you to do a good deed to some collector who might be inclined to dispose of a painting by this artist.

I hope the Daumier reached you safely and that you plan to be in New York soon again.

With my kindest regards,

Please believe me

Yours sincerely,

(René Seligmann)
