Dear Bob:

Many thanks for your good letter and for sending on approval the beautiful de la Fresnaye drawing about which everyone I have shown it to is most enthusiastic. However, I do think the price is terribly steep, regardless of the rarity or the quality of the drawing itself.

What I am really more anxious to get is one of the abstract water-colors like some of those shown at the Petit Palais last summer. If you come across any, keep me in mind.

I am much obliged to you for sending on the drawing and am only sorry that I cannot possibly consider it at the price. I will have it returned to you at the beginning of the week.
