Dear Jack:
Two very extraordinary collections have just been called to our attention in Europe, and I am writing you about them, first because they are in your particular field, and secondly because I thought there might be a possibility of your Museum being interested in them.
One comprises the complete works of Odilon Redon in black and white, chiefly lithographs of course, and is actually more complete than the set owned by the Art Institute of Chicago.
The other is even more unique, and is the complete works of Fantin-Latour in black and white.
I need not point out to you that both of these items are unique in this [[strikeout]] your [[/strikeout]] their field, as almost all the sets and works of these artists have been broken up and disbursed, and it is, therefore, practically impossible to gather together such a group of prints.
If you or Dr. Valentiner should be interested in the above items, I should be glad to furnish you with further information regarding a possible catalog of these groups, and the prices. I should appreciate a line from you one way or the other.
With kindest wishes, and looking forward to seeing you soon,
As ever
Yours sincerely,
(Robert M. Levy)
