New York 22, New York

December 9, 1964

Dear Mr. Cummings:

It is only a few days ago that I heard of your appointment as Curator of Drawings Art at the Detroit Institute of Arts and may I express my best wishes in your new post.

In fact, recently, thinking you were still at the University of Missouri, I had made a note of an article on Casanova which I thought would have been of interest to you in view of the purchase you made from my Gallery of the quite exceptional Casanova water color.

Though I realize today that this matter is probably no longer on your mind, may I nevertheless call it to your attention? It appeared in "Pantheon", May-June 1964, on page 173, and it is an article by Heinrich Leporini.

I assume that you come to New York off and on, and I hope that on your next visit you will give me the opportunity and pleasure of renewing our acquaintance.

Yours very sincerely,

Germain Seligman
