Dear Mr. Grigaut:

I do feel remiss in the most elementary courtesy in not having thanked your earlier for your kind lines by which you gave me Mrs. William D. Vogel's addressing as well as imparting the news that she is the owner of the Bonaparte drawing by Gros and do hope you will excuse me. This delay has been caused by my having left New York for California before having received your kind answer.

In fact, your letter having been forwarded to me, on my way back from the Coast I wrote to Mrs. Vogel asking whether I could call in Milwaukee, but I was told then that she was in Europe; and I am writing anew to her now requesting the loan of this drawing. May I say that I have not mentioned your name in either letter, as I thought you would prefer it this way, but let me tell you again how much I appreciate your cooperation.

By same mail I am writing to Mr. Richardson, and you will thus be posted about the development of the Gros exhibition, which I do hope you will have an opportunity of seeing, as I would indeed appreciate hearing your comments about it.

With many re-iterated thanks and best personal regards,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
