Dear Mr. Sawyer,

For some time I have wished to write this letter telling you how happy I was to hear of your appointment as head of the Museum at the University of Michigan. The trustees are to be congratulated on having chosen a man with your knowledge and experience.

If I am especially writing in this vein it is because I have heard very little of the museum activities at Ann Arbor and feel sure that with your acumen it will be lead to a new era.

I do hope however that being in the Middle West will not mean that we will not see you from time to time in New York.

In this expectation and with all best wishes,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
