Dear Dr. Bob:

This is really a personal explanation of the situation as regards the trinity, so I am not using official letterhead paper. 

Mr. Milliken, who has just retired from Cleveland, and Mr. Francis, the curator of paintings, were reluctant to make any further acquisitions while their recent building program was on. However the completion of the latter also saw a change of Directorship, and though Mr. Francis was here a few weeks ago and cherishes the same hope of acquiring the painting, the decisions of the new Director will play a role and no conclusion is anticipated until the end of the year.

As I wrote, I will keep you informed on developments and should it by some chance become available you will be the very first to know.

Ah, July! Yes, July and August are vacation time for me. But you may be up meanwhile, or is there no chance of that? 

I fear that when you travel you maintain a terrify-ing pace, but should you be going to Lima perhaps you could take time to see the interesting things two of my friends there are doing. They are Mr. and Mrs. John H. Davis, 325 Ave. A. Benavides, Miraflores, Lima. They are both in their early
