Dear Mr Pope-Hennessy:
You will recall our last Spring talk about a marble bust ascribed to Vittoria of which you had photographs and your wish to consider it (your letter of June 1) should I not acquire it. I have reached no decision, not having had an opportunity of going to Munich and the trip I was contemplating later this month is still nebulous, and were I to go I probably would not have time to [[crossed out]] go [[/crossed out]] get to Germany.

Thus, the matter now is in your hands and herebelow you will find the name and address of the dealer who has this sculpture. This is all I know about it, no provenance having been imparted. I was quoted by the intermediary who approached me last Spring, in Paris, and to whom, by the way, a purchase commission would have to be paid (10 percent, I assume) was $20,000 (TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS). However, I understood that this would not be the last price and that bargaining would be expected.

Were you intending to follow up, it would be correct on my part, I believe, to advise the intermediary accordingly, by a letter of which I would sent you a copy. He is:
Alfons Heilbronner
c/o Oskar Schunck K.G.
Leopold Strasse, 20
Munich 23

The dealer is: My Helmut Haider Telephone:08807-335
Herren Strasse 27-29
8918 Diessen/Ammersee (in the vicinity of Munich)

In this respect, I have just learned that he would be away between September twentieth and September twenty-fifth and during his absence, his brother-in-law, Mr. Hudler, will replace him.

A line from you posting me about your [[strikethrough]] your [[/strikethrough]] reaction to this situation and advising me whether I should write to A. Heilbronner as suggested would be much appreciated. By the same token, do let me know whether I may have the pleasure of seeing you here in the not too distant future.

With personal regards,
Sincerely yours,
Germain Seligman
