Dear Mr. Pope-Hennessy:
Mr. T.W.I. Hodgkinson has just advised me of your decision to acquire my marble statuette "Christ the Saviour" and I hasten to write to say how very happy I feel about this.

I am proud to learn you considered it worthy of joining the other great treasures of your Museum. Besides its exquisite beauty it presents the enticing iconography - one foot shod and one bare. In fact, could it not be the only sculpture in your collection featuring this representation, the source of which goes way back to antiquity.

May I express the hope that you will have another opportunity of coming to the United States this season and give me thus the pleasure of seeing you here before our meeting in London this Spring.

With warm regards,
Yours,

Germain Seligman
