2) Negatives - Eight file drawers containing negatives of items owned by Jacques Seligmann & Co. (many of the older ones are glass). Plus one containing only negatives of La Fresnayes (both ours and others) and material pertaining to Mr. Seligman's catalogue raisonne.

3) In addition, there is also a box (not a file drawer) containing extra large photographs and some transparencies of Seligmann owned works.

For your further information, I am enclosing herein a list of both numbers 1) and 3).

When I discussed the matter with Mr. Melvin Robbins, our attorney, who is also an executor of the estate, he suggested that we propose to you that we ship the photograph/research files to your museum, freight collect, the photographs to be counted and evaluated by your staff. The large photographs and the transparencies would have to be boxed separately, if you wish to have them sent also, and, of course, the transparencies would require a higher valuation than the black and white photographs.

Also, should you wish the negatives (I am not quite clear whether you consider them a plus or a minus!), they could be shipped at the same time. As they represent items no longer belonging to Jacques Seligmann & Co., but to private collectors and/or museums, I am sure, as a museum person, you recognize that they cannot be used for purposes outside of your museum without the consent of the owner.

Should you and your Trustees accept such a plan, we would in turn accept your evaluation *and your museum need only send us a check made to the "Estate of Germain Seligman". However, should you prefer to inspect them here, we would, of course, be agreeable, although we would prefer to get them out of the gallery as soon as possible - within the next week or two, as we shall have a considerable amount of moving to do within a very short time.

Looking forward to your reply,

Sincerely yours,

Mrs. Germain Seligman
