As I had understood from you that Mr. Fredericksen was coming at 3:30 (February 28th), and as Johnson had been unable to get here yesterday, I asked Paul to be available to help in showing the paintings, though Paul's regular hour of departure is 3 o'clock.

Mr. Fredericksen arrived after 4, and as you probably know was leaving last night for a week in Europe. We first showed the Tiepolo, Christ and the Woman of Samaria which did not seem to interest him.

We then showed the Lautrec, but he continued to sit and did not ever go close to the picture. However, he did ask for a photograph, but I told him you would prefer sending him a brochure on the Lautrec, which I assume you will be willing to do.

Though you mentioned the Seurat, it of course is at the warehouse, but we did show the color reproduction in the John Russell book.

He then talked about the firm's records and I gather he would very much like to have them for his museum when the firm closes. I told him I did not know what commitments you had already made for them but I believe he will write you on the subject.

My belief is that the slight interest he showed in the Lautrec is to create goodwill towards perhaps being the recipient of the firm's records, as he had not asked the price of either the Tiepolo, the Lautrec, or the Seurat.
