November 12, 1952

Dear Germain:

I have read with great interest about your forthcoming exhibition of Illuminated Manuscripts from the Arenberg Collection, and I am writing you to ask if any of them are for sale. It sounds like a most important group. I do hope that you have published a catalogue.

I would also like to know whether you still have any figure paintings by Gris. If so, I would appreciate your sending me photographs. My memory is a bit hazy on the paintings by Gris you have sold. I would like to review them to keep up to date.

The Tocque and Winterhalter came through in perfect condition. They have been hung and will be viewed for the first time tonight, when we hold our Members' Preview. It is a marvelous exhibition, even if I do say so, thanks to the generosity of yourself and others.

Sincerely,
Dick
