Mrs. Mary Cooke Swartwout, Director,
Montclair Art Museum,
Bloomfield, Ave.,
Montclair, N.J.

Dear Mrs. Swartwout:

Though I did not include it on the list of paintings to be sent you for your exhibition of contemporary American art, it seems to me you had selected Hobson Pittman's picture called "Over the Bridge", and which is priced at $200. I have therefore given this painting by Pittman to your truckmen this morning.

Should I be mistaken, and should you not have selected it, will you be so good as just to hold it until you will be returning the others, and give it to your truckmen then?

Trusting that your exhibition will meet with great success,
Yours very sincerely,

Dept. of Contemporary American Art.
