Alaska State Legislature [[seal]] Senate March 12, 1961 FRANK PERATROVICH KLAWOCK SOUTHEAST DISTRICT AT LARGE PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE Page 3 Sen. Ernest Gruening Washington, D.C. RECORD AND EXPERIENCE (continued) Elected to last Territorial Senate before Statehood. NOTE: I was elected AT LARGE to each term that I served in the Territorial and State Legislatures. Elected Delegate to Constitutional Convention in 1955-56 -- Served as Contitutional Convention Vice-Chairman. Elected to First State Legislature -- Senate. Elected President of Senate, First State Legislature, second session. Served as Delegate to First State Democratic Convention, both sessions, 1959 and 1960. At the present time I am holding the following offices: President of the Senate, [[strikethrough]] First Station [[/strikethrough]] Second State Legislature, first session Chairman of the Legislative Council Member of Executive Board, Alaska Native Brotherhood Mayor, city of Klawock President of School Board, City Incorporated District President of IRA Council President, Klawock Cooperative Association Owner, Klawock Cash Store Ernest, I have related a great portion of my experience with some degree of reluctance, because a report of this nature appears quite lacking in modesty; however I agree with you that each experience has been a part of my education and development, and I feel that each experience has added knowledge and understanding which contribute to my qualifications for performing the job that I seek. Another thing worth mentioning is the fact that I have operated a successful business for 30 years. I have had direct dealings with the Alaska Native Service and Bureau of Indian Affairs Operations in Alaska since their beginning, and am quite familiar with their functions in the areas of Health, Welfare, Education, and Economics. Needless to say, I am thoroughly familiar with the history and all facets of the present existence of Alaska Natives. I believe that I am adequately qualified to perform the functions of the BIA Area Director as they are intended by the Dept. of Interior. Cordially yours, Frank Peratrovich
